Meet the Team
The COUNTDOWN Cameroon Team is split between two locations. The Yaounde team which focuses around schistosomiasis and soil transmitted helminthiasis research is under the leadership of Prof. Louis-Albert Tchuem Tchuenté. Meanwhile, the Buea team working around onchocerciasis and lymphatic filariasis, is under the leadership of Prof Samuel Wanji at the University of Buea.

Country Director
Professor Louis-Albert Tchuem Tchuenté is the Country Director for COUNTDOWN Cameroon research team. He has profound knowledge and expertise in research around neglected tropical diseases, especially schistosomiasis and intestinal worms, that spans over three decades. He is the National Coordinator of Cameroon’s National Programme for the Control of Schistosomiasis and Intestinal Helminthiasis, the Director of the Centre for Schistosomiasis and Parasitology as well as the NTD Ambassador for Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.
